Benefits
Benefits are provided to full-time employees and regularly
scheduled part-time employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week on the
active payroll.
Vacation
The first year of service, all full-time employees working
at least 40 hours per week will accumulate paid vacation at the following rate:
1.53 paid hours off per 80 hours worked, or one week of vacation per year. An
employee who is separated before a year of service is ineligible to receive
compensation for hours accrued, but not used. Employees who complete their first
year may use approved, accrued vacation time. Starting the third year of employment,
the accumulation rate will be 3.08 hours of vacation per 80 hour pay period,
or two weeks of vacation per year. Starting the seventh year of employment,
the accumulation rate will be 4.62 hours of vacation per 80 hours worked, or
three weeks of vacation per year. Starting the 10th year of employment, the
accumulation rate will be 6.15 hours of vacation per 80 hours worked, or four
weeks paid vacation per year for the 10th year and for all subsequent years.
Staff working in a grant funded position must use all accrued vacation each
year before the end of their grant. Any vacation not used prior to the end date
of the grant will be forfeited if the grant is not refunded for the requested
amount. Regularly scheduled, part-time employees with one (1) year of service,
working a minimum of 30 hours per week, will earn vacation time pro-rated against
the full-time schedule. Randomly scheduled part-time employees and employees
under 30 hours per week are not eligible for vacation time. Regularly scheduled
part-time employees earn vacation time pro-rated against the full-time schedule.
Full-time employees are defined as having completed their evaluation period,
and in their letter of hire/transfer/promotion are scheduled 40 hours per week.
Regularly scheduled part-time employees are defined as having completed their
evaluation period and in their letter of hire/transfer/promotion are scheduled
30-39 hours per week. Vacation time may be carried over from year to year, but
employees may not accrue more than 160 hours of vacation.
Medical Leave
Full and regularly scheduled part time employees working a
minimum of 30 hours per week on the active payroll will receive 6 paid sick
days per year prorated upon the number of hours worked. Any unused days in a
given year will be accumulated up to a maximum of 200 hours. Sick time can be
taken when an employee is ill, has a medical appointment or needs to take care
of an immediate family member who is ill. Sick time is monitored and abuse will
not be tolerated. Employees may be asked to provide a doctor’s excuse
at any time. If an employee is found to be abusing sick time, they may lose
compensation for missed days or be separated. Regularly scheduled part-time
employees are defined as having completed their evaluation period and in their
letter of hire/transfer/promotion are scheduled 30-39 hours per week. Regularly
scheduled part-time employees will accrue medical leave prorated against the
full-time schedule after one year of employment. Employees working under 30
hours per week, do not receive paid medical leave. The Supervisor has the right
to deny paid medical leave. Employees taking over 40 hours of medical leave
per year may be considered to be abusing this company benefit. Employees must
provide a medical certification for any absences over 40 hours. Excuses must
be attached to your time card for the pay period you are requesting paid sick
time. Employees requesting sick time payment that do not have a medical certification
attached to their time card, will not receive paid sick time for that particular
period of time, or in the future, meaning if you turn in a medical certification
after the timecard deadline, you will not be paid. Disciplinary action may be
taken against an employee to include separation.
