Community Pride is a program of the Community Health Center in collaboration with Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) for residents of public housing, and is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services. This program was created to prevent and address family substance abuse problems and to empower residents to develop and maintain a healthy environment in which to live. Among the program's features are on-site office locations for public housing residents. We have offices in Barberton's VanBuren Homes, Crimson Terrace, and Norton Homes;and in Akron, Elizabeth Park Homes and Joy Park Homes. These offices serve the residents' needs of these communities. Other highlights are its comprehensive counseling programs like Young Moms Club/ Women's Support Group, Recovery Groups, Recovery Groups like "Beat the Streets" training as well as the Joy Dance prevention program, which was created in collaboration with the Living Fountain Dance Corporation. Community Pride services also include the Safe Children Task Force, Resident Council, and the Older Adult Lunch Bunch.
