The Community
Health Center Foundation is a not-for-profit
organization founded in 1985. It supports the activities and goals of the
Community Health Center through public fund-raising events and grants activities.
The following are three major public fundraisers that are held annually:
INDOOR OPEN March/April
The Indoor Open event is held at Chapel Hill Mall and Rolling
Acres Mall every March and April. It features a free nine-hole puttputt golf
course. Families are encouraged to play together and to take advantage of
the many programs offered by the Community Health Center to deal with substance
abuse through treatment and prevention. Each year the Indoor Open event also
hosts a Golf Challenge for community leaders, such as officeholders, corporations,
labor unions, AAIFA insurance members and the local media.
AUTUMN GOLF CLASSIC September
After eight years of holding a Moonlight Golf Outing and playing
in the dark, in 2002 the Community Health Center Foundation
changed from "moonlight" to "daylight" and held their
first daytime outing. This fundraiser was held at Barberton Brookside
Country Club in September and offered thousands of dollars for
the "hole-in-one" awards, a Silent Auction for sports memorabilia,
a raffle drawing and a fabulous meal to end the day. The proceeds were used
to support the Community Health Centers adult drug and alcohol treatment
and prevention programs.
MILE OF QUARTERS October
This event is held at Chapel Hill Mall in partnership with WBNX
TV-55. The intent is to raise one mile of quarters or $16,400.
Popular TV characters, numerous kids' activities and a raffle drawing provide
attractions for mall shoppers and their children. The proceeds from the Mile
of Quarters are used to enhance the Community Health Centers adolescent
and childrens programming, such as PANDA.
