Adolescent Treatment
In response to the needs of Summit County’s youth and families currently impacted by substance use, the Community Health Center opened the Adolescent Treatment Center in 2002. Research shows the younger a youth begins substance abuse, the higher the potential that he/she has to abuse more than one substance over a lifetime. The focus of our outpatient treatment program is a motivational approach to engage adolescents in long-term abstinence from drugs and alcohol.
The premise of the treatment of adolescents is that “while initial drug use may be benign, it can become a progressive disease which left untreated can be fatal to the individual.” CHC is committed to a holistic approach in dealing with drug abuse as well as primary health care needs. Treatment is centered not only on the individual, but considers the entire family structure as well as peers, court involvement, educational support, employment issues and overall wellness.
