Just about everyone has a few obvious brown spots on their skin.
Age spots, freckles and various birthmarks are just a few of the commonly
known marks.
Pigmented lesions are dark in color due to the concentration of melanin.
The laser light, when absorbed by pigment, will cause it to be lightened
or destroyed. Treatment feels similar to the snap of a thin rubber band
on the skin. Following treatment, the area may feel like a slight sunburn.
Within a day, any discomfort disappears.
An antibacterial ointment is recommended to keep the treated area clean.
Most common pigmented lesions are removed with one or two treatments.
If a lesion covers a large area, our physician may want to treat the area
in several stages, to avoid unnecessary discomfort. In most instances,
common pigmented lesions do not return.
