Gate House: A health care resource for minorities
Now’s the time to get educated and get tested. Nationally, African Americans make up about 12% of our total population but more than 50% of the diagnosed HIV cases in the U.S. In Northeast Ohio alone reported 150 new cases of HIV in 2005.
Gate House of Summit County is a program dedicated to helping individuals who are at-risk for HIV infection. Considered a resource for minorities in the area, Gate House provides free HIV testing, safer sex methods for males and females, and other prevention education counseling and presentations. Gate House staff can also make referrals to drug and alcohol counseling, housing, employment and other needs.

Gate House of Summit County is a program of the Community Health Center (CHC), a multi-county provider of alcohol and substance abuse treatment programs, wrap-around services and housing programs. For over 30 years, the CHC has been offering new and innovative programming for individuals and families affected by substance abuse. Today, the CHC offers over 20 programs in the community.
