Homeless grant awarded to OMCDC
AKRON, OH- Ohio Multi-County Development Corporation (OMCDC)
was recently awarded $221,371 from the U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development (HUD). As the housing manager for Community Health Center,
OMCDC will use this award to purchase and renovate two new group homes
and provide supportive services to residents of Horizon House. Community
Health Center Foundation will be raising $100,000 from private donors
to match this award from HUD.
Horizon House is a 2-year program for homeless men and women ages 18-22.
Residents are required to gain employment and/or complete their education
and participate in case management and other mentoring programs. This
grant will provide 10 more units of housing to homeless youth in need.
OMCDC is dedicated to meeting the housing needs of low and moderate income
persons in Carroll, Cuyahoga, Holmes, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark,
Summit, and Wayne counties. OMCDC owns and manages properties in these
areas totaling over 260+ units of affordable housing to those in need.
