COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER GROWS
The Community Health Center in Akron has been awarded funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development to construct housing for the elderly in Wayne County and housing for dually diagnosed HIV/AIDS individuals in Summit County. The Wayne County project will provide a total of 26 units at two sites designed for the elderly.
Both sites will include a building with community room, office for on site services and laundry. CHC was awarded $1,990,200 for construction of the projects and 5 years of rent subsidy totaling $449,000. The Summit County project will include two four-unit buildings to house homeless HIV/AIDS individuals who are dually diagnosed with substance abuse and mental health disorders.
Construction money totaling $615,000 and five years of rent subsidies totaling $139,000 will fund this project.
