Reverend Ed Carter was recognized at a tree planting ceremony in his honor at the First Congregational Church in Tallmadge on September 7. Carter served as Pastor for 22 years in Tallmadge before moving into a second career at the Community Health Center. As Director of Communications at the CHC, Ed oversaw many public relations events, fundraisers and press conferences as well as serving as the Patient Ombudsman for the agency. Prior to being Director, Ed served on the CHC’s Board of Directors for two years.
Community Action Network (CAN) sponsored the tree planting in Ed’s honor. In a letter sent to the Tallmadge church, Linda Sasanecki, President of CAN spoke of the many contributions Ed has made to our community. “His diligence, passion and commitment to this community’s alcohol and drug abuse education were instrumental in helping us to establish CAN...We feel a tree is a most appropriate symbol of health, beauty and strength with which to honor him.
”Since retiring from the Community Health Center, Ed now concentrates his energy on his family, grandchildren and new church congregation in Newton Falls. The CHC joins CAN in showing their appreciation and admiration for the priceless.
