A Message to the Community
It is with a great deal of pleasure that we present you with the 2001 Annual Report of the Community Health Center. Within these pages you will find the demographic details of our clients as well as our financial operating data.
The majority of this report, however, deals with our new and expanded programming designed to meet the changing needs of those who are abusing or are addicted to alcohol or drugs, as well as helping their families. It is a clinical fact that for many clients, even when they have successfully completed a treatment program, an additional 12 - 24 months of treatment is required for complete neurological recovery.
This need has been the impetus for the Community Health Center's commitment to provide safea dn sober housing, as well as aftercare.
November 2001 saw the opening and formal dedication of Peachtree Estates on Eyoga Lake Drive in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. This facility presently provides new, modern housing for eight families reunited following each mother's successful treatment for addiction.
Mrs Hope Taft, Ohio's First Lady, presided over the deedication and in her address noted that "through these doors, lay a new future." For the first residents of Peachtree Estates, there was the realization that in their recovery someone truly cared about them.
Peachtree, Phase One, will shortly be expanded by an additional sixteen units to provide housing for recovering dually-diagnosed single mothers who are being reunited with their children.
But, the task of providing safe and sober housing doesn't end with Peachtree Estates. Plans are underway for the construction of two aftercare facilities known as Pheasant run and Quail's Nest. These units provide transitional recovery care for four men and four women following treatment. In addition, construction will begin soon on Meadowlark Lane and Brambling Path which, when completed, will provide 28 units for dually-diagnosed clients.
Plans are being formulated for Pigeon Creek, a 20-unit facility for the elderly and for Wren's Way, a 14-unit complex for the physically disabled.
These housing developments reflect that commitment of the Community Health Center to blend Primary Healthcare and Behavioral Healthcare, providing a truly comprehensive treatment program. It is our goal to make northeastern Ohio a healthier place for all its citizens.
